Merge Multiple PDFs into One

Combine your 10th, 12th, and graduation mark sheets into a single PDF for SSC CGL upload. Combine multiple experience certificates into one document. Merge caste, income, and domicile certificates for state PSC applications. The order matters — files are merged in the order you uploaded them. Use the ✕ button to remove a file and re-add it if you need to change order.

Compress Large PDFs

Government portals impose strict file size limits — typically 2MB for SSC, UPSC, and IBPS; 1MB for state PSC; 500KB for some banking exams. If your scanned PDF is too large, compress it here. Three levels: Low (best quality, ~30% size reduction), Medium (balanced, ~60% reduction), High (smallest, ~85% reduction but visibly lower quality).

Trade-off: Compression vs. Text Search

Important: compression converts text-searchable PDFs into image-based PDFs. After compression, you can't copy text or search inside the document — each page is essentially a picture of the original. For documents you need to OCR or extract data from, keep the uncompressed original. For documents only used for upload/visual verification, compression is fine. Use the JPG to PDF tool if you want full control over the source images.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does PDF merging work?
Upload multiple PDF files (in the order you want them combined), then click Merge. The tool uses pdf-lib to create a new PDF that contains all pages from the input files in sequence. The original PDFs are not modified.
Will merging change page quality?
No. Merging just copies page references — it doesn't re-render the pages, so quality and text searchability are preserved exactly as in the source files. File size is approximately the sum of all input files.
How does PDF compression work?
The compressor re-renders each page at a lower resolution scale (Low / Medium / High aggression) and re-saves as JPEG-based pages. This can reduce file size by 50–90% but converts text-searchable pages into image-pages — you lose the ability to copy text or search.
When should I compress vs. when should I leave it alone?
Compress when you need to meet a strict upload size limit (e.g. SSC requires under 2MB) and you don't need text search. Don't compress documents you might need to OCR or search later — keep the original PDF for that.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Both merge (pdf-lib) and compress (PDF.js + canvas + jsPDF) run entirely in your browser. Files never leave your device. Works offline once the page is loaded.
